Malaysia Airlines have banned under12s from the upper deck of their Airbus 380s.

Please British Airways do the same for the upper deck of 747s and one cabin of each class.

Meanwhile WestJet almost got my vote to, but it was an April's Fool

Hamas in their own words

The ultimate goal of the Hamas movement is to establish Islam worldwide, Hamas minister Fathi Hammad declared during a recent public address in Gaza.
“We shall liberate our land, Allah willing. We shall liberate our Al-Aqsa Mosque, and our cities and villages, as a prelude to the establishment of the future Islamic Caliphate. Therefore, brothers and sisters, we are at the threshold of a global Islamic civilization era,” Hammad proclaimed.

“The fuel and spearhead of this era will be Gaza, and its mujahideen and leaders will be from Gaza, Allah willing,” he added.

He then appealed to Fatah, which heads the Palestinian Authority in Judea and Samaria, to stop negotiating with Israel.
“We just sit and talk to the Jews. Enough with that! Come join us, the legions of the believers, which have translated the Koran into victory, the law of the Prophet's ancestors into glory, and Jihad into liberation,” he urged.

“We shall be coming with a third Intifada, an armed revolution, a Jihadi revolution, Allah willing,"

Hammad continued, adding that "Gaza and the West Bank will fuse together, along with our brothers within the 1948 borders, in a second Battle of Hattin, in order to uproot the Jews,” referencing the defeat of Christian Crusader forces by Saladin's Muslim army in 1187.

Other sources quoted Hammad as warning that Hamas will fire any member of its armed forces, including the Gaza police, who does not take part in morning prayers.

Hammad, Hamas’ Minister of the Interior, is known to support the institution of Islamic law (Sharia) in Gaza.

So that's Hamas, they don't want any Israel based on the 1948 ceasefire lines, they want an end to a Jewish state and they want that for Islamic reasons. They also are trying to institute an Islamic theocracy but that won't stop idiots in the West continuing to support Hamas, because anything is preferable to a Jewish state.

Which was the 'worst government ever' of Britain? According to Al Murray

Al Murray shows off his knowledge of British political history...

From when children weren't treated as passive imbeciles by broadcasters - Merry Christmas

An excerpt from "Pinky and the Brain" season 1, episode 48:

'KS: I am honoured by your visit. Let me show you our assembly line. First, sheets of sheer synthetic sheepskin are slit into several Kicky-Sack shoe shapes in shapely shoe sizes by six sitting sheet slitters. B: I only see five sitting sheet slitters. KS: The sixth sitting sheet slitter's sick. His son Sammy's subbing 'til the sick sixth sitting sheet slitter's back, sitting pretty. P: You're not the sheet slitter? S: No, I'm the sheet slitter's son. P: Well.... You keep on slitting sheets until the sheet slitter comes. Haheheheh! Whooohaaah. [View of a machine labelled "Sheet Slitter Shoe Shaper".] KS: The Shoe Shaper then shapes the slit synthetic sheepskin sheets, and shoots out shoes through the chute. KS: Now, this is Mr. Plunkett, the new khaki sock plucker. (I had to fire our previous sock plucker. He had a bit of an attitude.) B: So, you sacked the cocky khaki Kicky-Sack sock plucker? KS: The second cocky khaki Kicky-Sack sock plucker I sacked since the sixth sitting sheet slitter got sick. [Lights dim. Machine whirs and slows down.] KS: Whoops! Don't worry; just an electrical problem. One of the Kicky-Sack sack pickers will have to flick the plug. P: Not the khaki sock plucker? KS: Oh, _my_, no! The Kicky-Sack sack pickers flick the plug. The khaki sock plucker can't reach the socket over the latex child perambulator fenders we use to line the treadmill. B: It might make more sense to have the sixth sitting sheet slitter's son flick the plug, if the sack pickers and the sock pluckers are behind the rubber baby buggy bumpers.'

BBC News ask 'How did Michael Adebolajo become a killer?'

The answer is, to the BBC obvious:
'... could another government scheme have stepped in? Whitehall had poured millions of pounds into an extensive programme of preventing violent extremism and a parallel programme of deradicalisation.

But when some of that funding was pulled after the 2010 general election, one of the groups that lost out was an initiative called Street, based in south London.

Its founder Abdul Haqq Baker told the BBC's Panorama that before Street lost its funding, members of his team had identified Adebolajo as a possible threat.

"Some of my youth workers knew [Adebolajo] and engaged with him," he said. "There were concerns that engagement was needed to enable him have a better understanding and contextualisation of Islam as we practise it in the UK.

"The traits he was displaying - ideological rhetoric in relation to violent extremism - and the positions that he had adopted, from those he had learnt from before al- Muhajiroun and such entities.

Such beliefs needed to be challenged."Could Street have stopped Adebolajo had it not lost its funding? "I'm confident in our track record that we could have prevented this," he said.'

There you go, it's clear: the fault for Michael Adebolajo becoming a killer lies with 'those evil Tory cuts'...  The BBC are beneath contempt.

BBC News - NHS 'was too powerful to criticise' says regulator

The trouble with this BBC report is that whilst it starts thus:
'The NHS "became too powerful to criticise" despite many patients receiving a "wholly unsatisfactory" service, the health regulator has said.

David Prior told the Daily Telegraph that even the most senior staff were afraid of speaking out.The Care Quality Commission chairman said the NHS should not be treated as a "national religion" beyond criticism.'

It is, of course, the BBC and their fellow travellers on the left of politics who most often treat the BBC as 'a "national religion" beyond criticism"'.

More reporting, that ignores this fact, here at the BBC.

Denis MacShane's plea in mitigation...

Denis MacShane is guilty of expenses fraud, but his lawyer has included in his submission that Denis MacShane is a union man... as if that should be a mitigating factor.

'The Qur’an is “Hate Speech” and Should be Banned' - So says Alex Jones' Infowars' and not me.

I'm not advocating banning the Koran but I'm interested as to how leftists would justify their inconsistencies.
'If we are to accept in the aftermath of the 'Duck Dynasty' controversy that criticism of homosexual activity represents "hate speech," then the Qur'an, which advocates stoning gay people to death, should also be denounced as hate speech and banned.

According to Democratic Party political pollster Bernard Whitman, who appeared on Fox News yesterday, along with a plethora of other leftists, Phil Robertson's comments are hateful and said they shouldn't be allowed to be aired in public.Yet the Qur'an, which clearly states that homosexuality is punishable by violent torture and death, is not subjected to anywhere near the same level of vitriol as that leveled against Phil Robertson by leftists. Why is that?

Let's contrast what Robertson said in comparison to what the Qur'an says about homosexuals;
Robertson: "It seems like, to me, a vagina — as a man — would be more desirable than a man's anus. That's just me. I'm just thinking: There's more there! She's got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I'm saying? But hey, sin: It's not logical, my man. It's just not logical…Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men."

Qur'an (7:80-84) - "…For ye practice your lusts on men in preference to women: ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds…. And we rained down on them a shower (of brimstone). Then see what was the end of those who indulged in sin and crime!"The Qur'an's use of the term "shower of brimstone" is interpreted by Muslim scholars to mean stoning somebody to death. The story is also repeated in suras 27 and 29.

As we illustrated earlier, not only the Qur'an but also the Christian Bible should be banned under this framework because both can be considered hate speech as they incite violence against homosexuals.
Despite the Qur'an's advocacy of stoning homosexuals to death, in addition to its recommendation that husbands beat their wives, it is virtually unheard of for prominent leftists to be critical of Islam, and yet the venom spewed in the direction of Robertson for asserting that homosexuality is a sin has been unrelenting.Indeed, when Bernard Whitman complained that TV networks were allowing religion to be "used as a weapon to spew hate," he wasn't referring to the religion of Islam, despite the fact that it advocates far more brutal treatment of gays than anything Robertson stated.'

What the Koran says - something for @sambarnet to read and listen to

Earlier this year Robert Spencer was on the BBC Asian Network and at one point the host (Nihal) asked him to quote verses from the Koran or the Hadiths that he finds reprehensible. Robert Spencer quickly responded with several verses from the Koran and one from the Hadith. Note that the Imam (Dudwallah ?) to provide the proper ‘context’ for these verses, since he objected to them being out of context. Note that he was unable to do so and when put on the spot he claimed that this is Robert Spencer’s field, not his. I did enjoy Nihal responding incredulously "But you're an imam!" Also a joy to listen to are Cameron's questions and Robert Spencer's answers near the end of the piece.

I have posted a version of this video before, actually that was a longer piece of video and is well worth a watch too, but thought it worth a repeat.

Can you hear the sound of teeth being gritted at the BBC?

This is the top of the BBC UK News home page

If you think you can hear the sound of gritted teeth as the BBC report this news, you're probably right.

Incidentally the BBC report about the UK jobless rate ends thus:
Average weekly earnings growth including bonuses picked up by 0.9% in the three months to October compared with a year earlier, the ONS said, a slight improvement on the three months to September.

Excluding bonuses, pay grew by 0.8%.

But this is still well below the level of inflation - currently running at 2.1% - meaning that people's living standards are falling in real terms.
The BBC always happy to push the Labour party line.

A common mistake but surely the BBC should know better

This BBC article about 10 common Christmas card dilemmas makes a rather stupid, albeit common, mistake. Number 2 dilemma runs thus:
2. Round robin revival?
The round robin letter - usually sent out with the Christmas cards - has become something of a seasonal joke. "Darling Theo is doing frightfully well in his eurhythmy lessons at Charterhouse - and little Imogen has gone back to advising Ban Ki-moon at the UN." Simon Hoggart, Guardian columnist and author of The Cat That Could Open the Fridge, a collection of round robin letters, is not a fan. "Round robins are hopeless because either you know the people so well, you're already familiar with their year, or else you don't know them well enough to care," he says. "The latter group find boasting particularly galling. Who wants to know about the exam successes of a teenager whose father you met in Derby 24 years ago?" But in an age where receiving a letter is a rarity, could the round robin be due for a renaissance? "It might now be a case of take what you can get," says Garfield. "Perhaps people should be grateful that they are being written to at all. It's time to bear the annual show of smugness."
The trouble is that the missive that they are describing is not a round robin but a newsletter. A round robin is  is a document signed by multiple parties in a circle to make it more difficult to determine the order in which it was signed, thus preventing a ringleader from being identified.

You'd have thought the Ed Ram or one of his editors would know this.

The oldest telephone in the world?

The above is an image of a 1,200 year old telephone as held in the Smithsonian Collection, you can read more here. But this is an excerpt:

'The gourd-and-twine device, created 1,200 to 1,400 years ago, remains tantalizingly functional—and too fragile to test out. “This is unique,” NMAI curator Ramiro Matos, an anthropologist and archaeologist who specializes in the study of the central Andes, tells me. “Only one was ever discovered. It comes from the consciousness of an indigenous society with no written language.”

We’ll never know the trial and error that went into its creation. The marvel of acoustic engineering—cunningly constructed of two resin-coated gourd receivers, each three-and-one-half inches long; stretched-hide membranes stitched around the bases of the receivers; and cotton-twine cord extending 75 feet when pulled taut—arose out of the Chimu empire at its height. The dazzlingly innovative culture was centered in the Río Moche Valley in northern Peru, wedged between the Pacific Ocean and the western Andes. “The Chimu were a skillful, inventive people,” Matos tells me as we don sterile gloves and peer into the hollowed interiors of the gourds. The Chimu, Matos explains, were the first true engineering society in the New World, known as much for their artisanry and metalwork as for the hydraulic canal-irrigation system they introduced, transforming desert into agricultural lands.'

The United Nations, bringing the world together.

The United Nations does indeed bring the world together because however divided the world may be, there's one thing that they can agree on - it's the fault of Israel - for many this really means 'the Jews'.

UN Watch reveal that:
'According to diplomatic sources and information compiled exclusively by UN Watch, the UNGA is expected to adopt, by the close of its annual session next month, a total of 21 resolutions singling out for criticism — and 4 resolutions on the rest of the world combined. See the draft texts below.

The four that do not concern Israel are: one on Syria, a regime that has murdered 120,000 of its own people, and one each on Iran, North Korea and Myanmar.

There were will be zero UNGA resolutions on gross and systematic abuses committed by China, Cuba, Egypt, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Zimbabwe, nor on many other major perpetrators of grave violations of human rights.'
Yet apparently I'm 'paranoid' and 'playing the anti-Semitism card' when I claim that the United Nations is institutionally anti Israel.

Fair coment on this govenment?

Chris Patten - tick tock, tick tock - Is his time as Chairman of the BBC Trust running out?

1. Last week The Mail revealed that:
'John Bercow has criticised BBC chairman Lord Patten for refusing to be grilled by MPs about the broadcaster’s coverage of Europe.

The Commons Speaker insisted no one should consider themselves above parliamentary inspection, as he attacked Lord Patten’s refusal to answer questions from the European Scrutiny Committee.

MPs are furious that the Tory peer – and former European Commissioner – has three times turned down their request to discuss the subject of bias in the BBC’s coverage of the EU. Because he is a peer, Lord Patten cannot be forced to attend.'
Remember that like Peter Mandelson, Neil Kinnock, Leom Brittan and other ex-EU Commissioners, the payment of EU pensions is dependant on the understanding that the EU can remove this pension, if in the view of the Commission or the Luxembourg Court, they "fail to uphold the interests of the European Communities".

2. Today The Telegraph reports that:
'Lord Patten, the chairman of the BBC Trust, has warned a Conservative MP that he risks legal action if he publishes evidence calling into question the corporation's handling of the Jimmy Savile scandal.

Robert Wilson, Tory MP for Reading East, has obtained an audio recording in which the author of an independent inquiry into the scandal at the BBC reportedly undermines his own findings.

He is planning to publish the audio recording today but Lord Patten has written to him warning that he should be "weighing up the legal liabilities that might arise".

Mr Wilson accused Lord Patten of "Soviet-era behaviour" and said he was "dangerously out of touch".

Mr Wilson said: "Lord Patten’s threat to a democratically-elected Member of Parliament is almost reminiscent of something from the Soviet-era. It is chilling behaviour from the so-called public “guardian” of this country’s dominant state broadcaster.

"Lord Patten is in danger of showing contempt for the House of Commons and this country’s elected representatives. As an unelected public official in what should be an important job, he is dangerously out of touch.” '

3. Today Guido Fawkes has a headline 'BBC Bombshell Coming' and a picture of Chris Patten...

Is it bye bye Patten time? If so who will be the next Chairman of the BBC Trust and will he be any less of a Europhile? Any less anti-Israel? Any ideas?

UPDATE: Unfortunately the BBC Bombshell wasn't news that Chris Patten was resigning, Guido Fawkes has instead published the audio mentioned in 2. above.

Is that really why the Labour Party raised the upper rate of tax to 50%?

The BBC confidently assert that:
'The last Labour government raised the upper tax band from 40% to 50% in 2010 in response to the recession but the coalition has since cut it to 45%.'
'in response to the recession', really? Not as a naked political gambit then?

The BBC, as always, are happy to do the Labour Party's work for them, in this brown-nosed report on a Neil Kinnock interview. That's the same Neil Kinnock whose enormous EU pension will be taxed at a lower rate than his fellow British citizens, I wonder why he's so pro-EU.

The BBC report (through gritted teeth) but still try and protect Islam, or at least denigrate Christianity.

The BBC report:
'Lee Rigby murder trial: Michael Adebolajo 'a soldier of Allah'
A man has admitted killing soldier Lee Rigby but said it was not murder because "I am a soldier of Allah" and "this is a war".

Michael Adebolajo, 28, described the killing as a "military operation".

He also told the Old Bailey he loved extremist network al-Qaeda.

The prosecution says he and Michael Adebowale, 22 - who also denies murder - rammed Fusilier Rigby with a car in Woolwich, south-east London, on 22 May, before attacking him with knives.

They are also both accused of attempting to murder a police officer and conspiracy to murder a police officer.
...
Under cross examination by prosecutor Richard Whittam QC, Mr Adebolajo replied "yes" when he was asked if he had killed Fusilier Rigby, describing it as a "military operation".

Fusilier Rigby's widow Rebecca left the courtroom in tears as Mr Adebolajo claimed the soldier was still moving after being hit by the car.

He refused to answer questions about how long he had planned the attack, but said he had not planned to run down Fusilier Rigby, saying "it just so happened that Allah caused him to cross in front of my car."

He described attacking Fusilier Rigby with a meat cleaver in graphic detail, and said the soldier was already dead by the time Mr Adebowale had joined him in attacking the soldier.'
The BBC must be in hell having to report a Muslim proudly claiming that "I am a soldier of Allah" and "this is a war" in a murder trial.

What is fascinating is the BBC's choice of sub heading between 'murder a police officer' and 'Under cross examination', where the ... is above. I still can't quite believe what the BBC decided was the correct sub heading for a section mostly devoted to Michael Adebolajo's admission that he had killed Fusilier Rigby and his statement that "My religion is everything. "When I came to Islam I realised that... real success is not just what you can acquire, but really is if you make it to paradise, because then you can relax," he added. Of al-Qaeda, Mr Adebolajo said: "Al-Qaeda I consider to be Mujahideen. I love them, they're my brothers. I have never met them. I consider them my brothers in Islam."

The sub-heading that the BBC chose related to Michael Adebolajo's previous Christian upbringing which is mentioned in passing,  they chose 'Bible readings', as though the Bible had anything to do with this case. The Koran I can understand, but the BBC chose 'Bible readings'. I don't think that this was a mistake, it was someone trying to be clever.

I do also note that the BBC do not report that Michael Adebolajo also proudly said that:
"I believe the best way to conduct any act is to copy Mohammed. It was not for malice..."

"How did we not know about this, while it was happening? The only problem is, we did."

"How did we (Americans and British) not know about this (the holocaust), while it was happening? The only problem is, we did."

High School student Anna Blech with a great TED presentation asking why 'we' didn't know about the holocaust occurring in German conquered Europe. Arthur Hayes Sulzberger of the New York Times gets a bad press (pun intended).

George Osborne puts Ed Balls in his place during the Autumn Statement today

"They can’t talk about their record because they had the biggest recession ever.
They can’t talk about the deficit because they’ve got no plan to deal with it.
He can’t talk about infrastructure and his much vaunted plan for a cross-party consensus because he was the person who tried to break the consensus on the biggest project of all.
He can’t talk about housing because there were 420,000 fewer affordable homes at the end of the Labour government.
He can’t talk about business rates because they went up 71 per cent under Labour.
He can’t talk about support for business because he wants to put taxes up on business.
He can’t ask about standing up to the powerful because this is the week they caved in to the trade unions.
He can’t ask about jobs because he wants more jobs taxes.
And he can’t ask about banking and financial services because the person they hired to advise them was the Reverend Flowers."

All pretty undeniable...

Jenny Tonge at it again

Trending Central report that:
'She (Jenny Tonge) asks in a written parliamnetary question today:
Baroness Tonge: to ask Her Majesty’s Government what recent discussions they have held with other European countries about opening dialogue with Hamas; and what steps they will take to promote dialogue between Hamas and the Palestinian Authority.
Jenny Tonge is the Liberal Democrat who in March 2009 met Hamas leader Khaled Meshal in Syria and described him as “shrewd, plausible and actually very likeable”. During that visit she also had a meeting with Ramadan Shalah, the head of Islamic Jihad. Both of these organisations deliberately and indiscriminately fire rockets into civilian areas of Israel, sometimes even hitting their own (Palestinian) people.

The out of control British state - The Commentator

' In an exclusive to the Telegraph, it is being reported that social services in the county of Essex obtained a court order forcibly to sedate a pregnant woman, surgically remove her child from her womb by caesarean section, take the baby into care and put it up for adoption.

The woman, an Italian citizen who was in the UK on a training course, wasn't even told that the procedure was going to happen to her. She was whisked off to hospital one day, drugged up, and awoke to find that the baby that had been growing inside her for 9 months had simply disappeared.'

What a country we live on, power crazed burocrats run our lives and want more power.

The Day of the Doctor - As live blogging, albeit a few days later on a second watch - One for the Doctor Who obsessives only!

Nice retro titles - very original series
76 Totter's Lane and the Coal Hill School with I. Chesterton as Chairman of the Governors - lovely nod back to the original series
Shouldn't the Doctor be able to escape from a winch?
Why does Matt Smith keep leaving the Tardis doors open, previous Doctors were very careful to always shut that door.
Love Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewwart's granddaughter's choice of scarf, very Fourth Doctor.
Why are the Time Lords fighting massive Dalek spacecraft with hand held weapons, do they not have anything more powerful?
If the Daleks are strafing Gallifrey why are Daleks also on the ground, that is very poor air/ground force cooperation.
What is a 'sky trench'?
The Omega Arsenal in the Time Vaults? Sounds portentous.
'The Moment' is gone, 'The Galaxy Eater' with a 'sentinent operating system', so more intelligent than Windows 8...
Billie Piper with a similar performance to  Idris/Suranne Jones
"Stuck between a girl and a box, story of your life"
If "every moment in time and space is burning" during the 'Time Wars', how come nobody elsewhere in the Universe is ever aware of the Time Wars or their effects?
Windows on The Doctor's future, a little Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future?
The Doctor was appointed 'Curator of the Under Gallery' by Queen Elizabeth 1, that explains her comment in The Shakespeare Code
Stacey/Joanna Page is Queen Elizabeth, was the Queen Welsh? Impressive decolletage nonetheless.
A 'machine that goes ding', how Monty Python - Meaning of Life
The Doctor should not kiss the ladies, or men (Captain Jack included)
Nice scene with the rabbit, most amusing - David Tennant does light and shade very well.
Small penis gag between the Doctors, "compensating.. regeneration is a lottery"
"Reverse the polarity"...
"Timey wimey" good to take the piss out of that phrase
The Black Archive and Men In Black brain wiping technology
Captain Jack's Vortex manipulator, sqweee. But an anti-American film dig.
Nice human to zygon transformation scene
And messages between periods of history was clever
I like the Sonic Screwdriver subroutine cleverness and the way it's shown to be over the top by Clara.
The man who regrets and the man who forgets - nice...
Not the old copies need to keep the originlas alive routine... how original and convenient
So the zygns home planet burnt in the first days of the Time Wars so they need a new plant but if "every moment in time and space is burning" during the Time Wars, how come they escaped and how come Earth wasn't similarly affected?
I see the Doctor's mobile number is still 07700 900461, just as in
Kissing in the future...
Back To The Future name checked (Are they trying to link to as many other SciFi programmes as possible?)
"You've let this place go a bit" - 10th Doctor's (David Tennant) control room
"The round things" return, how 1970s and 1980s
And back to the 11th Doctor's (Matt Smith) Doctor
A Doctor Who pinboard - From left to right - Tegan, Nyssa, Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart and Kamelion
A bit of Timey Wimey within the programme
All three Doctors in the slice of time 'picture' but that's not what happened...!
Nice 10th and 11th Doctor synchronisation
Why aren't the three Doctors memories wiped by that device?
More on the pinboard - Susan and various others from First and Second Doctor that I don't recognise straight off... I started with Third Doctor.
Love the big red button... Rather flower like
Two iterations of the same Tardis in the same place and time, surely that would rip a hole in the fabric of time and space... Although this is Gallifrey  so if it's possible anywhere it would be there
The warrior, the hero and ... a doctor
"Never give up, never give in" - Bizarrely on Sunday I heard that as Galaxy Quest's "Never give up, never surrender" I was wrong...
Clever crossfire idea, how original
Frozen in time, spotted that a while back as a concept.
How did John Hurt's Doctor get back to his Tardis so quickly?
Quick spot of John Hurt's Doctor, need to see more...
Time Lords frozen in a single moment, so they could come back in the future?
All the Doctors including 13 - Peter Capaldi's eyes
The latest Doctor is in charge of the rest at the end, was that the same in The Five Doctors? I sense a re-watch.
When the 13 Tardis's surround Gallifrey, where are the Dalek spacecraft? Not a sign of them? If they were there, couldn't the Tardis's have been hit. They have to be there for the crossfire plan to work...
Inside of National Gallery has very Tardis like hexagonal roundels on the wall.
Is John Hurt now part of the history of The Doctors? If so is a re-numbering of Eccleston, Tennant, Smith and Capaldi in order?
John Hurt's almost last words "Wearing a bit thin" wasn't that  also William Hartnell's?
Nice ears gag bearing in mind who he regenerates into, Christopher Eccleston
That last shot of the regeneration, does it have an Eccleston'ish right eye or is that my imagination?
Trenselor...
"I don't want to go" the last words of David Tennant as he goes into his Tardis and also the last words before he regenerated into Matt Smith. "He always says that" Nice line...
Just realised that there were three iterations of the same Doctor and three iterations of the same Tardis in the national Gallery and nothing happened, is The National Gallery actually Gallifrey?
Old man looking for you, "The Curator"... "I could be a Curator.. I could retire and do that"...
"You know, I really think you might" and there is Tom Baker, the Fourth Doctor, older but still magnificent, certainly an 'old favourite' of mine
No offer of jelly babies
"Oh you have a lot to do"... Looking for Gallifrey
"WHO knows" Doctor Who knows?!
Matt Smith's end of episode voiceovers are rather good, I love his voice.
"I have a new destination... I know where I'm going, where I've always been going, home - the long way round" and a great line-up of Doctors, including John Hurt.

First Doctor/William Hartnell by himself and then alternating inwards from left to right:
L1: Second Doctor/Patrick Troughton
R1: Third Doctor/Jon Pertwee
L2: Fourth Doctor/Tom Baker
R2: Fifth Doctor/Peter Davison
L3: Sixth Doctor/Colin Baker
R3: Seventh Doctor/Sylvester McCoy
L4: Eighth Doctor/Paul McGann
R4: Ninth Doctor/Christopher Eccleston
L5: ? Doctor/John Hurt
R5: Tenth Doctor/David Tennant
Centre: Eleventh Doctor/Matt Smith

But that's not correct anymore, John Hurt was a regeneration between the Eighth and Ninth Doctor, so that makes:
L4: Eighth Doctor/Paul McGann
R4: Tenth Doctor/Christopher Eccleston
L5: Ninth Doctor/John Hurt
R5: Eleventh Doctor/David Tennant
Centre: Twelfth Doctor/Matt Smith

And that presents a whole new issue as Time Lords are meant to only have 11 regenerations which means they are all used up, so how does the Twelfth Doctor/Matt Smith  regenerate into the Thirteenth Doctor/Peter Capaldi? I suppose we'll find out at Christmas... This War Doctor idea just doesn't wash, John Hurt is not Paul McGann nor is he Christopher Eccleston - I demand a proper explanation!

The Credits show "The Doctor" in reverse order with John Hurt between Christopher Eccleston and Paul McGann, so... Am I obsessing a bit much?

The credits also show Billie Piper as 'Rose', surely she was The Moment's operating system projecting as a conscience?

No mention of The Curator in the credits.

All the Doctor's faces in turn, as in the credits.... Yes I know I should get a life! Or 12! Or 13!

Feeling chilly? A Friday Night Rule 5 post

Here's Kate Upton's recent Sports Illustrated winter shoot to warm you up...

Doctor Who: The Day of the Doctor: The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot

A BBC special film revolving around the Fifth Doctor/Peter Davison, the Sixth Doctor/Colin Baker, the Seventh Doctor/Sylvester McCoy (Who's also in The Hobbit) and the Eighth Doctor/Paul McGann and their alleged attempts to be in the 50th anniversary special.

It's quite amusing but no more than that, although the Peter Jackson and Ian McKellen scene is nicely done, incidentally does anyone see the point of adding Radagast the Brown to the original story and John Barrowman's secret family is a nice touch but not as realistic as his obsessive self-promotion and incessant singing. Frank Skinner would surely be too tall to be a Dalek operator, although his two colleagues are bigger. By the way where does one subscribe to the Dalek Operators Gazette? Is it monthly or quarterly?

Favourite lines: Colin Baker's moan about "atmospheric lighting nonsense" and Peter Davison's comment that if you lean on the Tardis interior it "doesn't wobble at all" I did also enjoy the security guard's description of the Three Doctors as "illegal alien, I shouldn't wonder"

Having looked at the credits I see that Katy Manning and Lalla Ward were in this, time for a second watch...

Rampant Islamophobia?

The real threat to good community relations in the West is Islamophobia, or so we keep being told. The trouble is that the facts are at variance to the claims. The FBI's 2012 Hate Crime Statistics show

By bias motivation

An analysis of data for victims of single-bias hate crime incidents showed that:
  • 48.5 percent of the victims were targeted because of the offender’s bias against a race.
  • 19.2 percent were targeted because of a bias against a particular sexual orientation.
  • 18.7 percent were victimized because of a bias against a religious belief.
  • 12.1 percent were victimized because of a bias against an ethnicity/national origin.
  • 1.4 percent were targeted because of a bias against a disability. (Based on Table 1.)

Religious bias
Of the 1,340 victims of an anti-religious hate crime:
  • 62.4 percent were victims of an offender’s anti-Jewish bias.
  • 11.6 percent were victims of an anti-Islamic bias.
  • 7.5 percent were victims of a bias against groups of individuals of varying religions (anti-multiple religions, group).
  • 6.4 percent were victims of an anti-Catholic bias.
  • 2.6 percent were victims of an anti-Protestant bias.
  • 0.9 percent were victims of an anti-Atheist/Agnostic bias.
  • 8.6 percent were victims of a bias against other religions (anti-other religion). (Based on Table 1.)
So it's Jews not Muslims that face hate crimes based on their religion but that's of no interest to the pro-Islam media for whom Jews too often are linked detrimentally to Israel (the hated country).

Lewis Collins R.I.P.

Lewis Collins has died at the age of 67, William Andrew Phillip Bodie is dead... Another part of my childhood lies in tatters.

I wonder if this might herald a re-run of all 57 episodes.

In the meantime, here's some Bodie moments...

Climate Science is settled, 98% of climate scientists accept that.

I keep being told that 'Climate Science is settled because 98% of climate scientists accept that.' this is  (I believe) a way of shutting down debate on man made climate change, the latest attempt being made by @lynnejones_exMP on Twitter, that's former MP Lynne Jones (whose views on climate change are as fixed and wrong as they are on Israel and the genocidal Islamist terrorists that want Israel destroyed and Jews killed) but I digress.

In January 2012, the American Meteorological Society surveyed its professional members and found that 52% believe global warming is happening and is mostly human-caused, while 48 percent do not. The survey also found that scientists with professed liberal political views were far more likely to believe global warming is human-caused than others.

The authors of the survey recommended that the American Meteorological Society should 'acknowledge and explore the uncomfortable fact that political ideology influences the climate change views of meteorology professionals; refute the idea that those who do hold non-majority views just need to be "educated" about climate change; [and] continue to deal with the conflict among members of the meteorology community.'

So is Climate Science settled? No of course not. And why does Lynn Jones want to believe it is? Maybe her left-wing views, not 'liberal' as there's nothing liberal about supporting the rights of genocidal Islamist terrorists over that over the democratic multi-cultural state of Israel, could provide a clue.

Can you tell who's an immigrant by looking at their face? Would it be racist to say you could?

Before you lefty types scream 'that would be racist', look who said it...

Barack Obama saying that "just looking at faces, I could tell there were some folks who are here not because they were born here".

Imagine the media furore if George W. Bush or any other Republican had said this, but as it's the Obamamessiah there's nary a word.

If Sarah Palin had said this, the BBC would be having a collective orgasm of outrage but as it's their great hero Barack Obama, I can be sure that the news will ignore it and that The News Quiz will not pour scorn on their collective hero.

The BBC News do find time to report that 'US President Barack Obama "pardons" two turkeys on the eve of the Thanksgiving holiday, saluting them for their bravery'. The BBC happy to produce yet another puff piece for Barack Obama rather than reporting yet another Barack Obama misspeak.

The BBC choose what to report and what not to report, seemingly to help their Labour Party allies

This BBC report on yesterday's OFGEM chief's comments to the Energy and Climate Change Committee is very detailed about one part of Andrew Wright's remarks:
The energy regulator Ofgem has launched a scathing attack on the record and profits of the big gas and electricity suppliers.

Andrew Wright, the acting chief executive of Ofgem, said there was a "deep distrust of anything the energy companies do or say".
But that BBC report manages not report at all something that Sky News do manage to report:
He also warned that Labour's proposed energy price freeze "puts at risk the proper functioning of the industry"
...
Labour, which has pledged to introduce a regulator with greater teeth, came under fire from Mr Wright over its plan for a 20-month freeze to bills if it wins the 2015 general election.

Energy companies had previously warned such an intervention risked crucial investment in the country's energy infrastructure.

Following Ofgem's report on Monday analysing 2012 energy firm profits, industry body Energy UK argued the figures did not take into account the provision for securing energy supplies for the future.

Npower owner RWE confirmed on Tuesday that significant cost pressures had forced it to pull out of the massive £4bn Atlantic Array windfarm project.
So why are the BBC not reporting the full story? Can anyone persuade me that it's not just because they want to help their Labour allies along?

Bush or Obama, Idiot or Genius?

Thanks to HopeNChange for the cartoon.

An idiot tweets, this time it's @_fuck_israel_

I have been having an interminable Twitter conversation with a deeply unpleasant individual whose Twitter handle is @_fuck_israel_ . His level of discourse is pretty low, mostly restricted to telling me how much he loves (indeed worships Hitler), how Israel should be destroyed and how Islam is much better than Israel (apparently it's all down to numbers of followers of a religion).

I will at some point document the many rantings of this Algerian who claims to be a lawyer and to have a Jewish Swedish girlfriend who converted to Islam (hmmm) but for the time being here's just one of his laughable Tweets:

So @_fuck_israel_ claims that Hamas's fight for freedom has no relationship with Islam and that those who claim otherwise are stupid morons.

Here's the beginning of Hamas's Charter

The Charter of Allah: The Platform of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas)

“In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate You are the best community that has been raised up for mankind. Ye enjoin right conduct and forbid indecency; and ye believe in Allah. And if the People of the Scripture had believed, it had been better for them. Some of them are believers; but most of them are evil-doers. They will not harm you save a trifling hurt, and if they fight against you they will turn and flee. And afterward they will not be helped. Ignominy shall be their portion wheresoever they are found save [where they grasp] a rope from Allah and a rope from man. They have incurred anger from their Lord, and wretchedness is laid upon them. That is because they used to disbelieve the revelations of Allah, and slew the Prophets wrongfully. That is because they were rebellious and used to transgress.” Surat Al-Imran (III), verses 109-111 Israel will rise and will remain erect until Islam eliminates it as it had eliminated its predecessors. The Islamic World is burning. It is incumbent upon each one of us to pour some water, little as it may be, with a view of extinguishing as much of the fire as he can, without awaiting action by the others.
 No relationship with Islam?

Here's the eight objectives of Hamas, note the complete absence of references to Islam, Muslims and Allah:

Part I - Knowing the Movement

Article One: The Ideological Aspects
The Islamic Resistance Movement draws its guidelines from Islam; derives from it its thinking, interpretations and views about existence, life and humanity; refers back to it for its conduct; and is inspired by it in whatever step it takes.

Article Two: The Link between Hamas and the Association of Muslim Brothers
The Islamic Resistance Movement is one of the wings of the Muslim Brothers in Palestine. The Muslim Brotherhood Movement is a world organization, the largest Islamic Movement in the modern era. It is characterized by a profound understanding, by precise notions and by a complete comprehensiveness of all concepts of Islam in all domains of life: views and beliefs, politics and economics, education and society, jurisprudence and rule, indoctrination and teaching, the arts and publications, the hidden and the evident, and all the other domains of life.

Article Three: Structure and Essence
The basic structure of the Islamic Resistance Movement consists of Muslims who are devoted to Allah and worship Him verily [as it is written]: “I have created Man and Devil for the purpose of their worship” [of Allah]. Those Muslims are cognizant of their duty towards themselves, their families and country and they have been relying on Allah for all that. They have raised the banner of Jihad in the face of the oppressors in order to extricate the country and the people from the [oppressors’] desecration, filth and evil.

Article Four
The Movement welcomes all Muslims who share its beliefs and thinking, commit themselves to its course of action, keep its secrets and aspire to join its ranks in order to carry out their duty. Allah will reward them.

Article Five: Dimensions of Time and Space of the Hamas
As the Movement adopts Islam as its way of life, its time dimension extends back as far as the birth of the Islamic Message and of the Righteous Ancestor. Its ultimate goal is Islam, the Prophet its model, the Qur’an its Constitution. Its special dimension extends wherever on earth there are Muslims, who adopt Islam as their way of life; thus, it penetrates to the deepest reaches of the land and to the highest spheres of Heavens.

Article Six: Peculiarity and Independence
The Islamic Resistance Movement is a distinct Palestinian Movement which owes its loyalty to Allah, derives from Islam its way of life and strives to raise the banner of Allah over every inch of Palestine. Only under the shadow of Islam could the members of all regions coexist in safety and security for their lives, properties and rights. In the absence of Islam, conflict arises, oppression reigns, corruption is rampant and struggles and wars prevail. Allah had inspired the Muslim poet, Muhammad Iqbal, when he said:
When the Faith wanes, there is no security
There is no this-worldliness for those who have no faith
Those who wish to live their life without religion
Have made annihilation the equivalent of life.

Article Seven: The Universality of Hamas
By virtue of the distribution of Muslims, who pursue the cause of the Hamas, all over the globe, and strive for its victory, for the reinforcement of its positions and for the encouragement of its Jihad, the Movement is a universal one. It is apt to be that due to the clarity of its thinking, the nobility of its purpose and the loftiness of its objectives.
It is in this light that the Movement has to be regarded, evaluated and acknowledged. Whoever denigrates its worth, or avoids supporting it, or is so blind as to dismiss its role, is challenging Fate itself. Whoever closes his eyes from seeing the facts, whether intentionally or not, will wake up to find himself overtaken by events, and will find no excuses to justify his position. Priority is reserved to the early comers. Oppressing those who are closest to you, is more of an agony to the soul than the impact of an Indian sword. “And unto thee have we revealed the Scripture with the truth, confirming whatever scripture was before it, and a watcher over it. So judge between them by that which Allah hath revealed, and follow not their desires away from the truth which has come unto thee. For each we have appointed a divine law and a traced-out way. Had Allah willed, He could have made you one community. But that He may try you by that which he has given you [He has made you as you are]. So vie with one another in good works. Unto Allah, you will all return. He will then inform you of that wherein you differ.” Hamas is one of the links in the Chain of Jihad in the confrontation with the Zionist invasion. It links up with the setting out of the Martyr Izz a-din al-Qassam and his brothers in the Muslim Brotherhood who fought the Holy War in 1936; it further relates to another link of the Palestinian Jihad and the Jihad and efforts of the Muslim Brothers during the 1948 War, and to the Jihad operations of the Muslim Brothers in 1968 and thereafter. But even if the links have become distant from each other, and even if the obstacles erected by those who revolve in the Zionist orbit, aiming at obstructing the road before the Jihad fighters, have rendered the pursuance of Jihad impossible; nevertheless, the Hamas has been looking forward to implement Allah’s promise whatever time it might take. The prophet, prayer and peace be upon him, said: The time will not come until Muslims will fight the Jews (and kill them); until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry: O Muslim! there is a Jew hiding behind me, come on and kill him! This will not apply to the Gharqad, which is a Jewish tree (cited by Bukhari and Muslim).

Article Eight: The Slogan of the Hamas
Allah is its goal, the Prophet its model, the Qur’an its Constitution, Jihad its path and death for the case of Allah its most sublime belief.
So let's compare @_fuck_israel_ 'Hamas fight for freedom no relation with Islam' with Hamas's Article Eight (The slogan of Hamas) 'Allah is its goal, the Prophet its model, the Qur’an its Constitution, Jihad its path and death for the case of Allah its most sublime belief.'

Maybe @_fuck_israel_ has a syntax problem and his 'stupid moron' comment wasn't aimed at @SoldierFrosty and/or @jimborats but at himself.

Lily Allen says it's Hard Out Here

Lily Allen is back and her tongue is firmly in her cheek.

Dr Jacques Gauthier – The Jewish Claim to Jerusalem: The Case Under International Law | BBC Watch

http://bbcwatch.org/2013/11/23/dr-jacques-gauthier-the-jewish-claim-to-jerusalem-the-case-under-international-law

A fascinating watch...

Doctor Who - The Day of the Doctor (post 1)

I watched this Doctor Who special episode yesterday and enjoyed many parts of it but found others to be overblown and maybe a little silly!

One line especially jarred with me, "Never give-up, never surrender" - that's from the wonderful sci-fi film Galaxy Quest (the wrong franchise)...

Is playing for the England cricket team that stressful?

Then opening batsman Marcus Trescothick left the 2005-06 tour of India and the 2006-07 Ashes tour of Australia with a stress-related condition. Now Jonathan Trott has left the current Ashes tour of Australia because of a long-standing stress-related condition.

Now I understand stress-related illness, boy do I understand it... And I don't want to minimise its seriousness but could Jonathan Trott's condition possibly be the first case of Mitchell Johnsonitis?

Of course there might be a non-cricketing explanation as to why Jonathan Trott is depressed...
Jonathan Trott supports Tottenham Hotspur, not a good weekend for a Spurs supporting England cricketer...

Doctor Who - The Day of the Doctor

I was out last night and so missed the 50th anniversary special. Don't worry, I've Sky+ it in HD and will be sitting down to watch it before lunch. So no spoilers please...

In the meantime here's the rather spiffy 'all the Doctors' image that the BBC have released.

It's good to see Paul McGann take his place in the pantheon...

So how does John Hurt's iteration as The Doctor fit (or is there another explanation for his Doctor)? Also if Time Lords are allowed just 12 regenerations (13 'lives'), is the end coming soon for the Doctor, or will a fix be found? I know there have been exceptions found before to this limit, for more (much, much more) on this topic and others relating to Time Lords, try this Wikipedia page - warning GEEK alert!

Usain Bolt in 2003

An interesting Usain Bolt profile piece by Trans World Sport from 2003

An interesting piece and the change in his accent is very noticeable.

A year later and a 17 year old Usain Bolt sets his first world record, albeit a junior one, over 200m.

To celebrate tonight's 'The Day of the Doctor' Doctor Who special - some gratuitious Amy Pond/Karen Gillan images

I am not 100% if the leather catsuit image is kosher.

If you want to see some more images of Karen Gillan, may of which are photoshopped then this search may be of assistance but beware many are definitely NSFW.

The BBC just cannot help themselves

From the BBC's article entitled 'How did Doctor Who reflect the real world?':

The first David Tennant story, The Christmas Invasion, contains a scene which echoes former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's decision to sink the General Belgrano during the Falklands conflict in 1982.

Penelope Wilton's prime minister orders the destruction of a retreating alien spaceship, a decision condemned by the Doctor.
Doctor Who during the Russell T. Davies years often had politial echoes, this was one of the most clumsy. It was also perpetrtinga falsehood as the Argentinian ship's captain and others have admitted that The Belgarano was not retreating...

La Nación published a reader's letter from Admiral Enrique Molina Pico (head of the Argentine Navy in the 1990s) in 2005 in which Pico wrote that the Belgrano was part of an operation that posed a real threat to the British task force, but was holding off for tactical reasons. Pico added that "To leave the exclusion zone was not to leave the combat zone to enter a protected area". Pico explicitly stated that the sinking was not a war crime, but a combat action.[48]

The Belgrano's captain, Héctor Bonzo, (in) an interview in 2003... stated that the General Belgrano was only temporarily sailing to the west at the time of the attack, and his orders were to attack any British ships which came within range of cruiser's armament.[51]

The BBC, any excuse to blacken the name of Lady Thatcher and the British Armed Forces, truth be damned.

When even Time magazine say that Barack Obama broke his promises is the hero worship over?

Of course I exempt the BBC from this possibility as they will worship the Obamamessiah right up until the time his Democratic Party successor is in position.
