Did Gordon wash his hands first?

It is reported that our glorious leader, Gordon "picks his nose in public" Brown has visited patients at the Royal Marsden hospital following the terrible fire they experienced there yesterday.

Apart from the thought that if I was in a cancer hospital would I really want to have to be polite when being introduced to the man who has presided over the most incompetent funding increase of the NHS ever. I also wonder if Gordon Brown washed his hands (or more precisely his fingers) before being photographed shaking hands with at least one patient. Cancer sufferers often have compromised immune systems both as a symptom of the cancer and also as a result of the chemotherapy drugs (should they be undergoing chemotherapy treatment); they really should not have to shake hands with someone whose fingers were only minutes ago likely to have been digging away inside one or other of his nostrils and moving any detritus to his mouth or tie.
